Community first funds
Date published: 27 June 2012
As part of the government’s national Community First programme, the community panel for Rochdale’s Central ward - Central First, received 22 applications during round one which ended on 25 June 2012. In total the groups requested nearly £45,000 worth of grant funding and within their applications indicated in-kind and/or match funding totalling a further £118,000.
The response has been amongst the best so far within the borough of Rochdale and demonstrates the high level of social and voluntary action that is already taking place within the local communities.
However, only £8,400 of grant community first funding was available during the current funding round and the Central First Panel met on 26 June 2012 to consider the applications and to make recommendations to the Community Development Foundation (CDF).
In total 8 projects have been recommended for approval and these projects will be implemented in the central ward to deliver a range of actions that support the priorities agreed for the central ward. Details of the successful applicants and their proposed activity will soon be available on the CDF website and www.kyp.org.uk/centralfirst.
The successful applicants will soon be contacted by CDF to confirm their approval of funding with activities starting soon after.
