GMPA: challenging six months
Date published: 25 June 2012
Councillor Paul Murphy and Christine McGawley JP will continue to steer GMPA through the next few months, as the Police Authority prepares for the handover to the Police and Crime Commissioner in November.
Both were reappointed Chairman and Vice Chairman at the Police Authority’s Annual General Meeting on Friday 22 June 2012.
Cllr Murphy has been GMPA Chairman since 2007 and Independent Member Christine McGawley JP has served two years as Vice Chairman.
Cllr Murphy said: “The next six months will be as challenging, if not more so, than the previous years I have served as Chairman. My energy, enthusiasm and leadership remains undiminished, as the Police Authority remains committed to making sure the transition to the Office of the Police and Crime Commissioner is as seamless and successful as possible, while ensuring that our communities receive the best possible police service.”
Christine McGawley said: “I am proud to continue in this role and relish the challenges that lie ahead as we make sure that the Police Authority hands over a fitting legacy to the Police and Crime Commissioner that demonstrates our hard work and dedication in making sure that the people of Greater Manchester have the police service they deserve.”
The Police Authority welcomed four new members at the meeting including Cllr Sultan Ali, elected member for Rochdale.
