St John’s RC Primary School
Visit to Neeli Mosque – Thursday 21 June
Class 5 visited Neeli Mosque, Rochdale on Thursday as part of their religious education programme. The children were introduced to the functions of the Mosque and given a tour.
First Holy Communion – Sunday 24 June
Children who have taken part in the Sacramental Programme will receive their First Holy Communion in St. John’s Church at 1pm on Sunday 24 June.
Families are invited to join this important event.
Nursery Trip to Smithills Farm – Friday 29 June
Our nursery children will be visiting Smithills Farm, Bolton on Friday 29 June. Please note that packed lunches will be provided by the school for all children.
Sports - Tuesday 12 June
We took part in a Golf Tournament at Heywood Sports Centre, taking 2nd place and qualified for the finals on Friday 22 June.
Not Strictly Eurovision Song Contest
Our year 3 children took part in the finals of Rochdale’s Not Strictly Eurovision Song Contest at Gracie Fields Theatre on Thursday 14 June. Although we didn’t get placed, the children had a very enjoyable evening.
St. John the Baptist Church – Summer Fair
The summer fair was a great success despite the appalling weather on the day. Money raised will go to vital church maintenance. Thank you for your support.
Golden book awards – week ending Friday 1 June
The Golden Book awards are for children have tried their best in all areas with politeness and respect.

Class 1: Zahra and Dennis
Class 2: Minatullah and Alyssa
Class 3: All of class 3 for their excellent performance at Gracie Fields Theatre and their superb behaviour.
Class 4: Bushra and Hannah
Class 5: Rowan and Saif
Class 6: James and Lyon
Certificate Awards
Awards went to Class 1 and 4 for highest attendance and Class 1 for good behaviour in and around the school.
Other Business
Medical and other appointments
Prior notice must be given to the school office to avoid disruption to classes and school business. Appointment cards should be shown.
Leave during term time
Leave will not be authorised for holidays/absences taken out of the normal school holidays.
Attendance:
If you are late getting up in the morning it is not an excuse keep the children away from school. We would rather the children be late than miss a day of school so please bring them as soon as they have eaten breakfast.
Dinner money:
Please remember that dinner money must be paid on a weekly basis. If two weeks have passed without payment you may be asked to provide packed lunches.
