Redwood Sports Personality of the Year Presentation - Please can you make a note of the date of this special evening at which we acknowledge the achievements of our young people. The awards evening will take place on Thursday 5 July, 7.00pm at The Gracie Fields Theatre.
The evening will feature awards, an overview of the sporting year at Redwood School, special sporting demonstrations during the interval and surprises ! It will be a great night for all the family ! Good Luck - To the staff and students of the 6th form who are on residential from 20th June onwards.
Summer Clubs at Redwood - Final details of the dates of the summer clubs will be sent to parents next week. Year 6 Transition to Redwood - Youngsters from schools other than Newlands and Springside will be joining us for a transition day on Tuesday 3 July. We look forward to welcoming you for the day as we all prepare for September!
Key Stage 4 News - The MANTRA pupils have been looking at the headlight system on a car and how the wires are connected. SEB have been working hard finishing their accreditation and preparing for their transitions into 6th form. They have been using all their senses this week by looking at different things that are yellow, blue and white. They got to taste foods such as sweet corn, banana, rice pudding and smell shower gel and lemons.
The textiles group have produced a wonderful banner for a KS3 and 4 showcase. Well done everyone!
SSC have been on a trip to Clitheroe Castle, luckily for them the weather wasn’t too bad surprisingly.
They went shopping for cook and eat and made fish and funky potatoes!
4L have been working on individual storyboards in ICT using ‘I can animate’. The pupils have worked hard and produced some great work.
Key Stage 3 News— Bradley Jenkins has been short listed as one of 10 finalists to design an Olympic themed t shirt. He has been invited to Bury College to refine his design with support from their Art Department.
Mrs Roberts has challenged Lewis to be kind to people all day for two stars which eventually means prizes! Lewis said he will try and shrugged his shoulders—Mrs Roberts is funny!
8/9 Yellow made beans on toast in food technology.
7 Blue have finished their clock project—made out of MDF and acrylic.
8/9 Red have started their new English topic about Media; different ways of communication over the years.
Mrs Sheerins and Mrs Finn had a beneficial Science Moderation Meeting with colleagues from Springside and Newlands.
6th form news - Anne’s vocational education manufacturing group visited The Co-Operative supermarket to hand in our collection of used batteries.
Ryan, Callan, Andrew and Declan have been busy over the term making decorative boxes for their recycling project and saved all their used batteries ready to hand in. The group managed to collect over 60 used batteries. The project is a part of Redwoods aim to be an Eco School.
As part of Life Skills, Jake, Joshua, David and Nathan made a beef lasagne. The group used all fresh ingredients and made the dish from scratch. Matthew, life skills teacher said: “the lads all worked really hard. They followed the instructions step by step and the finished product looked, smelled and of course tasted great.”
14 students and 4 staff are preparing to take off on their continental residential. The lucky group are travelling to Fuerteventura in sunny Spain for 7 days. We wish the group a safe journey and look forward to their return to hear all about their experiences.
