Smash and grab at Cash Convertors

The Cash Convertors on Yorkshire Street fell victim to a smash and grab attack early on Thursday morning, 14 June.

The robbery took place at 8.55am when two youths on bikes smashed a window and stole watches.

It is believed that the two men were armed with hammers and Stanley knives.

A police spokesman said: "At around 8.55am on Thursday 14 June 2012, police were called to a shop on Yorkshire Street, following reports two men had smashed the front window and stolen items.

"Officers attended and discovered three watches had been stolen.

"It is believed two men rode off on pedal bikes.

"No one was injured and inquiries are ongoing."

ulie Currie, Area Manager at Cash Converters said: “We are working closely with the police to help them with their enquiries on this incident, which happened before opening hours on Thursday (14 June).

"Fortunately no-one was hurt during the incident and the store is open and trading as usual.

“We are in the process of reiterating the importance of our robust security policies across our network of stores and also putting further measures in place to help prevent such incidents from happening in the future.”
