New President for Rochdale Law Association

Solicitors from across Rochdale and their Law Society Council Members met at Nutters Restaurant this Wednesday (13 June 2012) for their Annual General Meeting and lunch.

Louise Salisbury, a partner at Molesworths Bright Clegg, has held the office of President for the last two years. She was pleased to hand over this responsibility on the election of  Louise Wilcox, a partner at AST Hampson, to be President for the ensuing year with Amjad Malik elected as Vice President.

Members of Rochdale Law Association have provided legal assistance and guidance in Rochdale since 1905. In recent years access to justice has become more difficult with the closure of the courts in Rochdale. Civil litigation now being dealt with in Oldham and criminal cases in Bury and Manchester.

The Rochdale Law Association is affiliated to the Manchester Law Society. It is likely during the next year that discussions will be held with the Law Societies in Oldham, Bury and Tameside to increase co-operation between the North Manchester societies that will strengthen the legal services available to the residents of these areas.
