Falinge Park High School

Date published: 13 June 2012

On Wednesday the 20 of June, we are opening our doors to parents from 2.45pm until 4.30pm as we hold an exhibition of recent work produced with 'Cartwheel Arts' as part of our CALL (Creative and Literacy Learning) curriculum.

The exhibition is free and is titled 'New Ghosts'. It takes place in the Hall. On display will be various books and 3D items and the recent 'Myths and Legends' projects homework. We hope that parents and families can come along and join us to celebrate the great work produced by our students. Letters detailing the event have been sent to all Year 7 pupils and their families.

There are still a few places left for our exciting Drama Summer School, titled 'Seaside Showtime!' that is on offer for new pupils joining us in September. If are in receipt of a letter and haven't yet returned it then please do so as soon as you can. Forms should be returned to S. De Courcey directly to school.

Norman Warwick from 'Just Poets' will be in school to work with our Year 7 learners as part of the Queen's Jubilee Celebrations. He will be running two workshops titled 'Diamonds' for selected Year 7 pupils on Friday 29 June and Monday 2 of July. Pupils involved in the project will be notified shortly.

Tickets for our forthcoming show, 'Tales from the Lonely Lighthouse' are now available from school priced £3.00. The hour long show takes place on Monday 9 of July at 7pm and features learners across Years 8, 9, 10 and 11. Rehearsals are now underway and an exciting plot is promised.

Our Awards Evening takes place on Tuesday 19 June and will feature a showcase of several Faculties in addition to the customary awards and certificates earned by learners over the year. Letters have been issued to children and their families and prompt replies are appreciated. For more details, please see Mrs Skerrow.

Certificates have been issued to all Year 7 CALL learners for the recent successful learning days at Leeds City Museum and Yorkshire Sculpture Park. Well done to all the students who took part and two enjoyable and particularly rich learning days took place at the end of last half term.

Many thanks to the friends of Falinge Park High School who are intending on attending our 'Storage Box Making Session' this Saturday 16 of June from 9.00am until 12 noon. This event follows what has been a great year for our community activities and the season comes to a close with a fantastic local history tour that takes place on Saturday 7 of July. For more details see Mr De Courcey or Ms Gott or visit our school website.
