Something new could be rewarding read
Date published: 11 June 2012
If you’d like encouragement to read a bit more, to pick up something you haven’t tried before and be rewarded just for reading, you should try the Reading Rewards Challenge. That’s the message from your local library, who have just launched ‘Reading Rewards’ a challenge open to adults over 16, designed to encourage you to read more and read more widely.
After reading three, six or ten books from different categories you’ll be entered into prize draws with a chance of winning up to £50 of high street shopping vouchers.
Councillor Peter Williams, Cabinet Member for Economic Development and Customer Services, says one of the best ways to get young people reading more is for them to see their older siblings, parents or carers enjoying a good book: “Your local library is challenging you to read up to 10 books by 31 October and to try something new. Libraries will also have special displays as part of the challenge to inspire you.”
Categories to choose from include: adventure, thriller, biography, contemporary fiction, travel and many more.
To find out more, pick up a leaflet when you next visit your local library. The challenge runs until 31 October 2012.
