Date published: 06 June 2012
A woman had shopping bags snatched, leaving her with an injured hand in Rochdale.
At around 12.30pm on Sunday 27 May 2012, the 39-year-old was walking along Richard Street when she was approached from behind.
A man, in his 40s, grabbed two shopping bags and her handbag before pushing her into a wall, causing an injury to her hand.
He ran off in the direction of Rochdale town centre.
The man is described as being white, 5ft 7in tall, of medium build, had black short hair and was clean shaven. He was wearing a black t-shirt, light coloured short and sunglasses.
Police Constable Christopher Byrne based at Rochdale Police Station said: “After the robbery, the victim was helped by a passing taxi driver who made sure she was okay before driving off.
“I would ask this man to come forward as he may hold vital information which may lead us to who was responsible for the robbery. If you were on Richard Street at the time of the incident and saw a man fitting the description running towards the town centre, I would ask you to get in touch with police.”
Anyone with information should phone police on 0161 856 8432 or the independent charity Crimestoppers, anonymously, on 0800 555 111.
