Year 1
Year 1 children across the country will be taking part in a phonics check in the week commencing 18 June. Please ensure you read each night with your child and regularly play the games on www.phonicsplay.com Thank you for your support.

Hollingworth Lake
The Big Water Festival is on Sunday 3 June 10am-4pm. There are numerous activities taking place with the Sailing Club, the Lake Water Activity Centre and the Rowing Club.
Everyone is welcome. For £2 with the sailing club, you can either have a trip around the lake or a short sailing session for approx 30mins.

Castleton Children’s Centre
The free ‘Stay and Play Sessions’ are here at St. Edward’s on Wednesday mornings 9am-10.15am. Please come and join us – you will be made very welcome.

Get your Child’s Hair Cut and Help to Raise Money for School
If any child from our school has their hair cut at Regalia Hair on Manchester Road, the owner Ruth has generously offered to donate all the takings to school funds. Cuts are £5 for 1 child; £8 for 2 children; £12 for 3 children and £18 for 4 children. If you would like to book an appointment, phone Ruth on 346347.

Music Lessons
Fees for this half term are now due - £19.95. Fees must be paid weekly in order for lessons to continue. Please also send any outstanding music fees into school as soon as possible in order for lessons to continue. Thank you.

Dinner Money
Dinner money should be paid in advance on a Monday morning. Please send it in an envelope with your child’s name and class on. Lunch is £1.80 per day - £9 per week.
Money envelopes are on sale from the school office for £1.50.
There is a copy of the menus on the school portal. After half term we are on Week 2.

Picnic Fridays
After half term every Friday the kitchen are going to be having a picnic day. The children will get a sandwich in a picnic box with a drink, a piece of fruit and a cake or biscuit. They are still providing hot meals but if your child would like to try the picnic, you need to let the office know each week by the Wednesday at the latest. The price is £1.80.

Cookery Lessons
We are running parent cooking lessons for 4 weeks on 12, 19, 26 June and 3 July from 9-11am. We have 4 places left. If anyone is interested, please contact the school office.
Swimming Galas
Well done to the swimming team who took part in the league gala. The next League Gala is Monday 11 June.
Good luck to the swimming team on Friday who are taking part in heats for the Inter-league gala.

Kingswood
This trip needs to be paid in full before we finish for the summer holidays in July. Thank you.

Breast Cancer
On Thursday 14 June we are having a strawberry tea from 2.30pm-4pm in the school dining room. Please come along and support this very worthy cause.

Olympic Week
Olympic Week starts on Monday 25 June. We will be having our Sports Days during this week. All parents, grandparents and members of the local community are welcome and we will be having some parent races.
