Celebrate the Queen’s Diamond Jubilee

Rochdale is ready for a right royal knees up with events planned across the borough to mark the Queen’s Diamond Jubilee.

A host of street parties, family fun days and other events will take place throughout the Bank Holiday weekend to celebrate Queen Elizabeth’s accession to the throne 60 years ago.

There is something for everyone and the whole borough can join the fun, many events are free.

Events round the borough include: 

  • The Big Water Festival at Hollingworth Lake
  • Milnrow, Newhey & District Jubilee Carnival
  • A celebration in the  Memorial Gardens, complete with traditional brass band, children’s games, face painting and a tea party
  • Family fun day at Queen’s Park, Heywood
  • A 1950s themed indoor street party in Heywood
  • A patriotic red, white and blue fireworks display
  • A jubilee themed concert and a medieval pageant in Middleton
  • And to round off celebrations, Jubilee Beacons will be lit round the borough.
