Bin collections as normal over Jubilee
Date published: 30 May 2012
Rochdale Council environmental management team is reassuring residents that the extended Bank Holiday won’t spell disruption for people in Middleton and Castleton who are on a Tuesday collection.
Councillor Martin Burke, Cabinet Member for Internal and Environmental Services, said: “We know that having timely bin collections is very important to the people of our borough and it’s particularly important on the Jubilee when people are likely to be having parties and producing lots of waste.
“The Diamond Jubilee is a great opportunity to make the most of the many recycling facilities on offer in our borough. Residents with caddies can use them to recycle their leftover party food, while the blue and green bin will take any used glass and plastic drink bottles.”
Residents with items which are too big to bin can also visit one of the borough’s two recycling centres in Chichester Street in Rochdale and Springvale in Middleton. Both are open each day of the Bank Holiday weekend until 8pm.
