Petrol rise fears

An EU Directive, which will hit hard-pressed motorists in the pocket, has been slammed by MEP Paul Nuttall.
"The relentless EU eco-agenda is already having a huge financial impact on everyone with increased energy costs and now it seems the price of petrol and diesel could rise by 4p a gallon.
"This is sheer madness and is another reason, as if we needed any more, why we must leave the European Union," said Mr Nuttall, UKIP Deputy Leader.
Under the Directive one in every 10 litres of fuel sold would be made up of sustainable alternative biofuels rather than fossil fuel by the end of the decade.
"It's already bad enough that valuable agricultural land is being sacrificed to produce bio-fuels instead of food," said Mr Nuttall.
"We need to be encouraging economic growth, not killing it to meet artificial and unrealistic targets set by cloud cuckoo land bureaucrats in Brussels.
"The only road left open for motorists and businesses will be the road to ruin," added Mr Nuttall.
