Inmates protest on roof of Buckley Hall prison

Two prisoners staged a protest on the roof of Buckley Hall prison this morning (Monday 28 May).
The prison, on Buckley Hall Road in Smallbridge holds 'medium security' prisoners. It has space in three separate units for more than 250 prisoners.
A prison service spokesperson said: “An incident at height involving two prisoners at HMP Buckley Hall was successfully resolved by negotiation at 12.25pm. No staff or prisoners were injured.”
The men’s prison on Buckley Hall Road in Smallbridge holds ‘medium security’ prisoners and has space for over 250 prisoners.
The prison holds Category C inmates, which means they are defined as adults who cannot be trusted in an open prison but are unlikely to try to escape.
It is unknown why the prisoners staged their protest.
