Sensory Garden – Various members of staff are in the process of organising a cross department committee with the aim of developing our courtyard / sensory garden area. As you will be aware this area is a quiet and relaxing part of our internal school grounds for youngsters who do not want to be on the main yard. It is also a very special place which allows staff and pupils the opportunity to remember those who have passed on since we have been at Redwood. The garden is looking bright and in bloom at this time of the year, however we want to further improve it! If you would like to donate any bulbs or have a contact who could supply the school with a variety of sensory garden items, please contact school. Your support would be very much appreciated!

Diary Date – Sports Personality of the Year Presentation. Make a note of the date of this special evening at which we acknowledge the achievements of our young people. The awards evening will take place on Thursday 5 July, 7.00pm at The Gracie Fields Theatre. A formal invitation will be sent out to all families in the near future

Key Stage 3 News — Congratulations and well done to Aaron who this week received the Rotary Award ‘Most Improved Student’. Mrs Walsh Spanish group had a visit from 2 students from Spain. They spoke to the pupils in Spanish asking their names. Our pupils replied excellently in Spanish both verbally and using communication aids. The two students also had a conversation in Spanish together to give Redwood pupils an opportunity to hear ‘live’ Spanish!! They all enjoyed Tostada con tomate—a traditional Spanish snack of bread and tomatoes. Orange and Red group visited Portland Basin, a museum, old streets with old fashioned shops, school and houses. Pupils enjoyed drinks and snacks whilst there. Year 8/9 yellow made tea and toast virtually independently—they impressed themselves! Lilac room did lots of baking, making shortbread and oat cakes for KS4 coffee morning, Niall thoroughly enjoyed himself and ended up covered in flour.

6th Form News - Group 1 visited the Trafford Centre as part of their Maths lesson. The students had the opportunity to use money in a real situation.

Students were encouraged to bring in an appropriate amount of money and then were supported by staff to look for clothes to buy. The students had a great time and surprised themselves in the fact that they can actually use money and buy their own clothes.

Lee, Callan, Rebecca, Ryan, Nathan, Sophie, Dominic C, Thomas F, Louis, Declan L, Joshua and Maria enjoyed a Look and Cook session at Hollingworth Lake as part of their Vocational Education. The group learnt about all the different types of edible vegetation growing in the area and learnt which were safe and which weren't. The group picked wild garlic and bistort then cooked garlic bread and made bistro soup on an open fire. Everyone had a fantastic time despite the odd showers and cold temperature.
