Class 3 visit the Queen
Date published: 21 May 2012
The children of class 3 of St John with St Michael Primary School in Shawforth, with teachers Miss Kenyon, Mrs Staton and Mrs Elmer were invited to Burnley Football Club to see HRH The Queen, Prince Philip and Prince Charles.
They had a packed lunch and then waited outside the football club and waved at the Queen on her arrival into the football ground with her escorts.
Later that day they were seated in the terraces and watched various performances from schools and organisations across Burnley.
With the sun was shining gloriously, they sang the National Anthem as the Queen came out on to the balcony to listen.
Miss Kenyon said: "It was a wonderful and very memorable day and the children learnt lots of information about the Royal Family and also how the only other monarch to have reigned this long was Queen Victoria."
