The Blooming Great Tea Party

Date published: 18 May 2012

Management and staff of the Crimble, Rochdale joined with members of Marie Curie Cancer Care Rochdale Support group to provide the fourth annual Blooming Great Tea Party, which raised £3,449 in total.

Almost 200 people attended the event this year. Guests enjoyed a wide range of sandwiches, scones and desserts courtesy of Rob Walker and the Peacock Room team.

During the party,  Sue Rothwell, a regular Peacock room guest, donated a cheque for £1,500 to Marie Curie Cancer Care in memory of her husband Steve.

Vivien Thompson, Chairman of Marie Curie Cancer Care Rochdale Support Group, said: “It has been an incredible turn out today, a most wonderful event in both ours and The Crimble’s calendar.

"We at Marie Curie Rochdale are indebted to all the staff for their dedication to our cause, to say thank you really seems inadequate.

"When we see people attending year after year it makes you realise that the cause we are all supporting is one which is close to everyone’s heart.”

The money raised will go towards providing nursing care for terminally ill patients in their own homes.

Marie Curie Nurses work a full 10 hour shift with just the patient and their families. There is no charge to either the patient or their families for this service.
