Rochdale Borough Council is launching an Independent Strategic Review of its operations and procedures following the recent court case in which nine local men were found guilty of child sexual exploitation.
Jim Taylor, Chief Executive of Rochdale Borough Council, said: “The council will undertake a review to take a thorough look at internal processes and procedures. It will also examine communications between services and how information is shared between internal and external agencies.
"This is in addition to the multi-agency review already being carried out by the Rochdale Borough Safeguarding Children Board to be published this summer. This new review will commence as soon as possible.”
“The review will help us to further improve the safety of young people in the borough. We have already developed different ways of working, and I need to be confident that our improvements have gone far enough, that we are doing everything we can to ensure that young people are protected and supported and that abusers are brought to justice quickly.”
