There are still places for our forthcoming Community events in June. An adult workshop titled ‘Creative Approaches to Photoshop’ takes place on Tuesday 12 June from 5.00pm until 7.00pm whilst a ‘Storage Box Making’ workshop takes place on Saturday 16th June from 9.00am until 12 noon. Please contact Mr. DeCourcey at school directly to book a place or for more details.

Cartwheel Arts continue to work with our Year 7 learners over the next few weeks in readiness for an exhibition titled ‘New Ghosts’. The work involves the making of different kinds of books and learners have been exploring literary genres, typography and different ways of publishing. Many thanks to the artists for their continued hard work in the sessions.

One of our Year 11 pupils; Crystal Campbell was nominated last week by a panel of senior staff representing the school to receive the ‘Most Improved Student Award for 2012’ This award is given to the school by the Rochdale Rotarians, and only one of these prizes is allocated each year. Crystal has been awarded this prize as a reflection of her improvement in her confidence as a learner, with particular reference to her improved skills and achievements in Mathematics. Well done Crystal.

Many thanks to all the children who attended the visit to London this weekend for making it so fantastic. A great time was had by all and staff and pupils alike enjoyed 'The Woman In Black' West End Show and the Warner Bros. Studio 'Making of Harry Potter' Experience. Many thanks to all our students for perfect behaviour throughout.

The latest edition of the 'Create!' newsletter has been distributed within school and electronic copies are available from the school website. The latest edition is 16 pages in length is full of our latest projects and achievements.

We say hello to Year 4 learners this week as Mr De Courcey and Ms Gott pay a visit to All Saints Primary School as Alien Link Officers investigating the crashlanding of alien pod. We look forward to seeing the outcomes of the work produced from the project.

Auditions for our July show, 'Tales from the Lonely Lighthouse' have now been completed and the casting news has been issued this week. Well done to all who auditioned as the standard was particularly impressive. Tickets for the show are now available directly from school, priced £3.00. The show is to performed on Monday 9th July at 7pm.

BTEC Performing Arts Technical Theatre students and BTEC Music Students are asked to ensure that their coursework is now fully up to date and see their teachers if they need additional help after school. Sessions have been created in the next couple of weeks after school to support learners. Speak to your teacher if you need help or advice.

Many thanks to Year 6 parents who have already submitted application forms for our Drama Summer School. Places are allocated on a 'first come, first served' basis and we will notify those who have secured a place in the near future. For more details, please contact Mr De Courcey directly at school.

Well done to Mr Dalby, Ms Williams and the Future Perfect Band who took part in the Future Perfect 3 Festival in Castlefield Arean, Manchester last weekend. Our students performed an impressive musical set and were very well received by the crowds. We look forward to seeing the band perform at the forthcoming Awards Evening.

We welcome Spiral Dance, Just Poets and Skylight Circus into their new administrative home in the next few weeks as they take up residence permanently in school. The three Arts organisations will be based in our 'Arts House' and will be celebrating their residence at the start in the next academic year.
