Hamer Community Primary School
Date published: 11 May 2012
On Thursday the children in Year 3 and Year 4 enjoyed a mini beast hunt around the school grounds as part of the IPC curriculum. The children had a fantastic time and couldn’t stop talking about their discoveries – let’s hope they were all released back into their habitats and none are still creeping around school.
Further to the recent visit to Gordon Riggs garden centre as part of their latest IPC topic, the children in the Foundation Unit have been busy both planting and distributing plants and flowers to other classes in school. As you know, we are working hard to bring learning to life outdoors for our children and the Foundation Stage are helping us to ensure our outdoor classrooms are stimulating places to be.
As most of you will know, next week the Year 6 children will be sitting their SAT’s tests. This is an extremely important week for our Year 6 children and all children must be on time and in school every day. The children and staff have worked incredibly hard again this year to ensure that the children are as ready as they can be for these tests which of course determine groupings etc. for secondary school. If your child is in Year 6 please ensure that they continue to get good nights sleep and that they are eating breakfast and a meal at night throughout the week.
This week’s winner of the Good Citizens Award are Year 6 for working incredibly hard in the run up to the SAT’s and for having a great attitude towards their work over the last few weeks. Good Luck for next week!
Well done to Mrs Hoyles’s class who are the winners of the best attendance award for the week ending 11 May 2012. Please continue to support us by ensuring that your child is on time.
Thank you to those of you who have responded further to the newsletter last week in terms of uniform. Head dresses need to be plain and either grey/black or red and headbands MUST be plain. The children are looking so smart in their school trousers, skirts and jumpers/cardigans – thank you – this really supports our sense of community and working together. Please ensure that your child does not wear jewellery of any kind. Thank you for your continuing support.
