Police search for missing man
Date published: 07 May 2012
Police are appealing for information about a man who has gone missing from his home in Edenfield heading in the general direction of Rochdale.
Stephen Iggulden, who is 65 years old, suffers from Alzheimers and is easily confused. He went out for his usual Sunday afternoon walk around 2.30pm but had not returned home at his usual time of 5.30pm and his family and police are extremely concerned for his welfare.
A joint police and mountain rescue operation is underway and officers are appealing to anyone who may have seen Mr Iggulden to contact them as soon as possible.
Mr Iggulden is described as white, around 5ft 4in tall, of slim build with light brown short hair and a light brown full beard.
He was wearing a long sleeved turquoise running top, navy blue thigh length shorts and brown Lonsdale shoes.
Chief Insp. Damian Kitchen said: “Mr Iggulden is a very physically fit man and often goes out for long walks but not returning home is very much out of character and his family are extremely concerned for his welfare. He was last seen around 3-30pm on Sunday on the A680 Rochdale Road, Edenfield, heading in the general direction of Rochdale.
“He may have kept walking in that direction or may have turned off to walk over Scout Moor. I would ask anyone who may be out and about in these areas to be vigilant and report any sightings to police as soon as possible.”
Anyone with information is asked to contact police by calling 101 and quoting the log number LC-20120506-1460.
