Severe delays on the A627M and M62 junction 20 roundabout.
Police are advising motorists to avoid the A627M in Rochdale following a chemical incident.
At around 12.25pm on Friday 4 May 2012, the emergency services were called to Thornham Island following reports an unknown substance was in the road.
No one has been injured and inquiries are underway to establish what the substance is.
The M62 west bound access from Thornham Island and north side of Thornham Island from Weighbridge is closed.
