Efit released following robbery in house

Date published: 03 May 2012

Detectives hunting a robber who confronted a woman in her own living room have issued an e-fit of the suspect.

At about 8.15pm on Friday 24 February 2012, the offender climbed over a fence into the garden of the house on Gatesgarth Road in Middleton.

He then walked in through a back door and found the victim, a 58-year-old woman, in the living room.

The offender then said that he wasn't going to hurt her, all he wanted was her money.

He grabbed her by the neck and forced her to hand over cash, before leaving the house.

The offender is described as being a white man in his early to mid 20s, about 5ft 5in tall, of medium build. He had a thin nose and dark eyebrows. He was wearing a dark coloured jacket and spoke with a local accent.

Detectives have carried out a number of inquiries to trace the suspect and have worked with the victim to put together an e-fit.

Detective Constable Russ Clarke said: "This was a terrifying experience for the victim, and despite the incident being more than two months ago, we will explore every avenue we can until we have identified and located this offender.

"The victim has worked with us to put together the e-fit and we believe that friends and family of this man may well recognise him.

"I would urge anyone with information to get in touch."

Anyone with any information is asked to call police on 0161 856 4621 or call the independent charity Crimestoppers anonymously on 0800 555 111.
