We need to mention to everyone the BRILLIANT job from the Rights Respecting Team in raising £373 for the UNICEF “Day for Change” Uganda Sport Appeal last Friday. They managed to smash their target of £200. Tom, Lauren, Jeska, Cobey, Lauren and Megan would like to thank everyone who made the day so successful.

The Cycle Club has got off the ground! Mrs Whitworth, Mrs Robinson and Mrs Taylor braved the rain on Tuesday lunchtime to go out with 7 children to complete a 30 minute 2 mile circuit around the local area. We hope to continue to do this weather permitting and once we have the group we will establish a text alert system so children will know if the club will be on.

The PTA raised £500 from the Ladies Night. This will buy another picnic game table for the verandah areas. Again, thank you for your support, we are finally beginning to make an impact on improving the play facilities and the children – when it stops raining – are VERY much enjoying the additional equipment in the yard areas.

Well done to the children who were presented with the Achievement Award last week:

Reception Eleanor Kelsey - Lyon
Year 1 Cole Doolin
Year 2 Toby Rahman
Year 3 Jack Beer
Year 4 Jessica Leigh
Year 5 Amelia Betham
Year 6 Zac Chadwick

School attendance was exceptionally good last week and although we did not manage any classes with 100%, overall attendance was 97.7% .

The SATs and assessment weeks are coming up in the next two weeks, it is absolutely essential that the children attend well not only for the assessment week but the days running up to them when teachers quickly recap topics and help to answer questions and queries.

Next week Monday is Bank Holiday therefore school will be closed. On Tuesday Year 2 are going to Middleton CLC in the morning and Year 3 in the afternoon. The children are going to make Diamond Jubilee souvenirs. On Wednesday Year 5 are out all day at a ‘Meet the Pioneers’ workshop in the Town Hall. This year it is the Co-Op Centenary and we are trying to support the activities as much as we can to help the children understand the importance of the Co-Op movement and its part in their local heritage.

On Wednesday afternoon Reception will be travelling to Middleton CLC to make their Jubilee souvenir.

Year 4 are busy planning their celebrations for the Diamond Jubilee day on June 1st , keep an eye out for all the events.

Finally – if you are not receiving text alerts please let us know, our system is showing a number of failed ‘sends’. Everyone should have received a message about the non uniform day last Thursday evening, if you did not then we need to check numbers.

Have an enjoyable long weekend.
