Coronation Street star dressed to impress

Jennie McAlpine wearing the 25Ten dress at the British Soap Awards 2012
It’s an age old dilemma. What should a celebrated actress wear to the most exciting and glamorous night in the showbiz calendar?
For Coronation Street’s Jennie McAlpine the answer came in the form of a trip to award-winning Rochdale boutique 25-Ten where she found her perfect dress for the British Soap Awards 2012.
After she wowed the fashion critics on the red carpet, the Boutique’s owners have spoken of their pride at seeing Jennie, who plays Fiz Stape in Coronation Street, turning heads and standing out from the crowd.
“She looked simply beautiful,” said Paul Turner Mitchell. “She chose the ‘Sian’ dress by designer Kevan Jon based in Halifax. She particularly wanted to support an independent designer and wanted something that was made in the UK. She came to us for a final fitting a week before the awards and was delighted.”
Kelly Turner Mitchell added that she had recommended something against the so-called ‘norm’ and was thrilled to get a text message from her at the awards to say a quick thank you!
“A lot of people think that ivory is a no-no when it comes to a Redhead with a fair complexion,” she said. “This is so not true! Jennie has a lovely rosy tint to her fair complexion, which looks just perfect against the ivory of the dress.
"I am really looking forward to watching the awards on Wednesday in the hope of seeing her work the red carpet.
"We have already started planning with Jennie her outfit for another event coming up shortly.”
The British Soap Awards will be aired on ITV1 on Wednesday.
