Welcome back to all our children and staff. We have had a great start to the summer term with 95% attendance so far and high expectations for near full attendance as we move into the better weather and less sickness absence. We ask all families to avoid taking holidays in term time. Doing this can seriously impact on pupils’ overall attendance record and result in gaps in learning that will slow down progress.

This term children across the school will be completing SATs and other assessments. These are opportunities for pupils to demonstrate their learning. We always encourage them to do their very best and ask parents and carers to do the same.

Reception class have begun their new Growing topic with the story of the Very Hungry Caterpillar.

Year 1’s new topic is Big Chief, Little Indians, all about the Native North American Indians, Year 2 have begun research on their new topic, Wild Africa, finding out about homes and schools in Africa and the weather there.

Year 3 are planning their learning around a Diamond Jubilee Topic and have already begun to design a Jubilee Garden. They spent the whole day on Thursday at Middleton CLC designing and ,making Jubilee artefacts.

Year 4 have begun their topic A Taste Of India by making contact with their new Indian pen pals.

On Thursday they had a great experience when they took part in the Water Polo competition at the Swimming Baths.

Year 5 have begun their Olympic topic and spent the whole day on Tuesday at Middleton CLC designing and making Olympic and Diamond Jubilee artefacts.

Year 6 are on countdown to SATS in May, Monday 14 May – Friday 18 May. All pupils must be in school every day that week and on time!

Pupils are revising and practising their Maths and Literacy skills over the next few weeks ready to do their very best.
