Parent group warn against ‘teddy bear’ drugs

Date published: 30 May 2018

A local parent group has issued a warning about pink and red drugs shaped like teddy bears.

Understood to be a form of ecstasy, Parents Against Grooming UK have issued a warning against the colourful tablets, which are believed to have been sold in Rochdale. No official incidents have been reported as yet by the police.

Co-founder William Howarth said: “We have spoken to local parents whose children have unfortunately taken these tablets. We’re believe the police are aware and are actively investigating this.

“There have been a few cases across the UK, as these tablets are particularly attractive to children due to their colourful shape.

“Please keep your children safe and report any suspicious looking tablets, especially if you don’t know how your child has acquired them.”

In 2017, four 13-year-old girls in Wythenshawe fell ill after swallowing the tablets, just months after two men were taken to hospital in North Wales after taking pills of a similar description.
