The Big Lunch in Rochdale Borough
Basically, it's a party in your street, in everyone's street. On 19th July we're asking the people of Rochdale to stop what they're doing and sit down to lunch together. Why? Well for lots of reasons really but mainly to put a smile back on Rochdale's face.
The driving force behind the BIG LUNCH project is Tim Smit the founder of the Eden Project and Paul Twivy, a member of the Prime Minister’s Council on Social Action and CEO of the BIG LUNCH. The project enjoys support from a range of corporate sponsors and celebrities.
The BIG LUNCH team envisages that the BIG LUNCH will become an annual national event when the communities of Britain can sit down together, share food; drink and conversation explore their differences and join together in a celebration of what unites us.
Raring to get going, but not sure how to start?
You can take a look at the website www.thebiglunch.com and get ideas on how to create your perfect BIG LUNCH event, such as, growing food and flowers in advance of the occasion; preparing and cooking food to eat; dressing the street; and street entertainment, from street theatre to art and music. In the meantime, have a look at our FAQs that will get you going on the road to Big Lunch glory
