Local Election 2022

Anne Colgan

Anne Colgan

Liberal Democrat Party
Norden Ward

Working at a local school, Anne Colgan has lived in Norden for 25 years raising her children in its friendly community village and she is passionate about maintaining the beauty of its rural surroundings. Her family members still at home are young adults, and like many families in Norden, varied problems affect them both in the village and the surrounding area.

Environment and Mental Health:

The pandemic was extremely challenging mentally for many people, and to keep themselves fit and healthy, many sort refuge by exploring the beautiful rural areas of the village, especially Naden & Greenbooth. This highlighted problems with fly tipping and waste bins being full and overflowing with rubbish. The dog bins were overflowing. Some pathways also need clearing of overhanging bushes and shrubs.

Safety in Norden Village:

Pavements and footpaths through the village are uneven, causing trip hazards, and dog fouling, particularly around the school is a problem. More dog bins are needed here. Walking to and from work, particularly in winter, highlighted how poor lighting is and generally how unsafe it can be for our community regardless of age or sex.

Parking and Safety:

Norden suffers with a lack of parking facilities particularly in the village and creates a problem around the schools especially for the residential neighbours. The congestion around the schools is also an issue. The maintenance of our roads needs attention, particularly the pot holes which make a potential hazard for drivers. Speeding through the village is an urgent problem to resolve.
