Vote Endacott - Balance politicians by electing a businessman

Why elect a businessman?

Career politicians are needed to understand how to get things done locally, but Rochdale is a £600 million annual turnover business, so adding commercial business know-how, could create a winning team.

About the Man

Hi, I’m Steve Endacott a local business with a proven track record in running large businesses and creating jobs. Like many people, I have a “modern family” with 5 children after getting married for the second time to my lovely partner Ruth and live nearby in Norden, Rochdale.

Steve Endacott’s Qualifications.

Big business. Steve has been a business as a director since he was 25-years-old and rose to be “Deputy Chief Operating Officer” for Rochdale based Mytravel Group responsible for running Airtours, Going Places and its online business, with 7,000 staff and £4 billion in turnover.

Creating Jobs. Steve has also built a major business from an idea in the pub, having co-founded and built an overseas holiday transport business called “Holiday Taxis”, which carried 6 million holidaymakers a year when it was sold in 2019 for £60.5 million pounds.

Steve is also Chairman of Electric Car Organisation, focusing on sustainable travel solutions for a greener future.

Key Policies.

  1. Scrap Clean Air Zone Electrify. The scheme is badly thought through and unlike London, has the M60 motorway running through the middle of it. Madness! As London demonstrated fees for commercial vehicles, will inevitably be followed by fees for private cars. This is a crude taxi that penalises the poor and tries to force people to move to EVs when availability simply does not support it.

  2. Electrify Local Taxis. EVs are 66% cheaper to run, but local taxi firms don’t have the capital funds needed to replace their ageing petrol fleets. The Council because of its large amount of assets could lease EVs cheaply and rent them to local taxi firms, greatly improving air quality. Initial projections show that the EV running cost-saving would cover 90% of the rental cost.

  3. Maximise Central Government grants. £2.2 billion of Pensions tax credits are not claimed, as are £2.4 billion of potential child benefits. As a councillor, I’d focus on making sure my constituents know how to claim what they are due, rather than on increasing local taxes.

  4. Limit Building on Green Belt. Let’s use all the central spaces left vacant by Covid related business closures before destroying more of our countryside.

  5. Repair local roads. Sort out Milnrow and Newhey’s pothole crisis.
