My name is Salina Khan Javid and I will be your Liberal Democrat candidate for the Milkstone and Deeplish ward. I've lived and worked in this community for the last 15 years and have seen the many challenges/issues our residents face on a daily basis therefore took the decision to stand as a candidate for the first time. My ambition is to bring about small changes which have lasting effects in all communities and build bridges and dialogue between all.
As a mother of 2 I know the importance of having a good, safe and clean environment for young people to grow and establish. So I pledge to try my best in making the ward a better place to live and work.
I believe it is key to keep in contact with people and be genuine and transparent. I am grateful that my track record is evidence as to how and what I have done for my community and I am proud to say my community has entrusted me with their issues without me even having a political platform and I can vow that wherever I can help I will and I can happily say I have gone far and beyond therefore having a political platform would allow me to continue with this and make the changes on a bigger and wider scale.
As a keen charity worker and supporter for a few local charity organisations, I love helping others. I find my happiness within other people's happiness and I believe a good elected representative should be one of whom people respect, have faith in and trust.
I recently sold my business within the Milkstone & Deeplish ward as I felt it was time to move forward with my plans to help the community and try to bring about positive change and this could be achieved on a larger scale by being a voice for you in Council. I am proud to say I have made a lot of friends from local businesses and the local community and we all have the same goal which is to make a positive impact in our locality.
So I start as I mean to go on, if I am elected by the people, I won’t make false promises but I do promise to try my best in everything and will keep in contact with the people be it through local resident meetings, surgeries or through ward casework.
On May 5th Vote for change, elect a Councillor who will be a voice for us all. I appreciate your support.
