Local Election 2022

Shin Ingram

Shin Ingram

Liberal Democrat Party
Healey Ward

Hi, I’m Shinnanne, though almost everyone calls me Shin. I’ve lived in Rochdale almost my whole life, and I’ve lived in this area for over a decade. I have a good sense of our area and what could be beneficial for the residents here and am willing to listen and learn about what others think.

I used to work in childcare in various settings, but for the last few years, I have been studying politics, learning about politics and how best to help people. Most recently I have gained my Certificate of Higher Education in Politics. I’m also active in online disability rights spaces and am learning more about how I can work with my disabilities to improve accessibility and treatment for all.

I’m standing for the council as I’d like to make a difference in Rochdale, and to represent the communities that I am a part of that are often overlooked. I would work my hardest to bring the best to the town, and to represent the interests of the people who elected me as faithfully as I could.

In my spare time, I enjoy playing Dungeons and Dragons with my friends, video gaming and also enjoying our wonderful town and the proximity to Manchester. We have the best of both worlds here, being so close to the city and having so much of our own countryside.

If you were to select me as your councillor for the Healey ward my priorities would be

  • Working toward making our ward more accessible for disabled people, wheelchairs and pushchairs, and repairing, maintaining and installing drop curbs where possible.
  • Preventing the destruction of our wonderful Green Belt land and ensuring that our town centre green spaces are protected.
  • Clamping down on speeding and decreasing the speed limit in the built-up areas of our ward.
  • Making the area and our surgeries a safe space for the LGBTQ+ community and allowing them to know they have our unwavering support and a councillor who could represent them.
  • Ensuring that potholes and other damage to the roads are correctly filled and repaired.
