Local Election 2022

Connor Hibbert

Connor Hibbert

Green Party
East Middleton Ward

People of East Middleton, my name is Connor Hibbert and I am running with the Green Party in the May local election.

The Labour Party has dominated Rochdale council for years, invisible councillors have caused the decline of our local area. It is so sad to see the place I have spent my life growing up in and where we should feel most at home, get dragged in to the background of a council that is run by politicians focused on winning elections rather than improving the quality of life in our community.

Increased anti-social behaviour, the demolition of already scarce children and youth services (such as play areas and the Brookside Community Centre), neglected social housing, as well as roads and pathways plagued with potholes and litter. These are just some of the hardships which we have been forced to tolerate for too long! If elected, my primary focus will be working to fix the broken social and environmental issues that have arisen from cuts made by the council.

I want to improve youth services within the area by pushing for further funding into a local youth club that is attractive to all ages. I want to help create more welcoming green spaces where people from all aspects of our community will feel safe and comfortable, areas that will make use of land, benefiting the environment and community, such as allotments and sensory gardens. I would also like to focus my attention on transport within our community, looking to add cycling lanes and improving the poor public transport network which is currently isolating East Middleton.

In this election you will have three votes, It’s time to use your vote as a statement and elect a representative who understands the needs of the local area and will tirelessly work to improve our community, use one of your votes to make a difference!
