Zarah Kauser is probably the youngest candidate in the UK in this years local and government elections. Turning eighteen on nomination day, Zarah is about to complete her A Levels at Bacup & Rawtenstall Grammar School with a view to starting a medical degree.
Already making waves with the Young Liberal movement, the Bamford candidate is keen to lobby for young people’s rights on the council.
“In Scotland and Wales this year 16 & 17 year olds will be able to vote. It seems ridiculous that there is this disparity in our country in 2022. We need to engage more young people in politics locally. I look at the current council and they do not represent me.” Said Zarah
If I’m elected to Council on May 5th, I will campaign for young people’s rights from day one. For free travel to college, the right to vote, for better mental health services and youth services for 13-25 yr olds.” She concluded
