My name is Mudassar Razzaq. I am the owner of your local independent newsagent’s shop on Oldham Road. Established for more than 20 years I have a strong connection with the local community in Balderstone.
These are some of the issues:
Oldham Road & Broad Lane – have 30 mph speed limits, however vehicles frequently exceed this due to there being no speed camera. I will raise this issue with the relevant authorities as a matter of urgency.
The Clean Air Zone proposal is just another tax that which will adversely affect our community which is already struggling due to the high inflation rate.
Balderstone Park - children have been throwing stones at vehicles passing by on Oldham Road. It may be possible to raise the wall the roadside to lessen this anti social behaviour.
We must save our existing Greenbelt. New houses should be built within the current urban area. For example, on the Kirkholt estate new affordable housing has been built as well as a modern shopping area, a big improvement for the community.
Queen Victoria Street – there has been new houses built on the previous school site however the road is full of potholes. This road urgently needs resurfacing.
