Something missing from this magazine!

Welcome to our Making it Better magazine (January 2008)

Ok I have read it back to front inside out and something is missing?

It tells us about changes to our maternity services that there might be a possibility of a standalone midwife-led centre in Rochdale, no more children’s in-patient service’s and that ”A small number of families may need to travel further for specialist surgery or overnight medical care” Now thats strange seeing that the  children's beds they closed have had to be re-opened due to the winter bugs! I can't wait for these new technologies that are magically going to stop these nasty virus's  from attacking our babies and littles ones in the  future.

Page 6 shows you the map and a map key  and I must admit the colours are lovely!   But the map is scary when you study it and realise the empty hole they are leaving in and around Fairfield and Rochdale and they reckon there won’t be a problem with transport getting to visit your sick child needing in-patient care to the New children’s hospital in North Manchester they didn’t mention how many inpatient beds there will be for all of our children from Rochdale, Fairfield and surrounding areas as well as their own?

They put some little did you know comments like 242,000 people gave their views during the public consultation, they didn’t break it down to the  for or against? Did you know 60% of children are discharged from A&E without needing admission, what about the other 40%?

The back page tells us “you said …we did” and has listened to your views.
Rochdale and Fairfield disagree with this statement as we very clearly said no thanks but you didn’t listen and did it anyway so much for consultation!

Now try as I might in this magazine I can’t find any reference to the Cardiac Care of Excellence Rochdale was promised as a carrot to these downgradings  Can You??
