Date published: 16 May 2012
A Pentecost Walk of Witness, organised by Littleborough Churches Together and to be held on Sunday, May 27 will leave from St Andrew's, the parish church of Dearnley and Smithy Bridge, at 1.30pm.
It will be led by Wardle High School Brass Band and will proceed to Hare Hill Park in Littleborough where an open air service will be held at 2.00pm, led by the Rev Paul Martin, the chairman of Bolton and Rochdale Methodist District.
It will be followed by children's entertainment.
The parish room at St Andrew's, situated on Arm Road, Dearnley, will be open from 12.30pm for anyone wishing to bring a packed lunch and to relax with it before the start of the walk.
Satuday's Diamond Jubilee afternoon tea, in the parish room starting at 3.00pm and organised by Susan Knight, has proved exceedingly popular once again and at £7 a head is a complete sell-out.
On Sunday we will be attending Songs of Praise at St James's, Ashworth Valley and on Saturday, May 26, we will travel to Formby for our parish Quiet Day at the St Joseph's Prayer Centre between 10.30am and 4.00pm. It still isn't too late for anyone wishing to go to sign the list in the parish room.
On Sunday we have Eucharist at 8.00am and Sung Eucharist at 10.00am.
The parish rota is: lay assistants, S Carmichael, C Cook; readers, A Walker, M Trayers; Intercessions, S Knight; sidespersons, G Kilpatrick, M Sheridan; refreshments, Rhona, Vera, Dorothy.
