This week we have begun our Spring Assessments in school. These are opportunities for all pupils to show off their new skills and knowledge and to perform their personal best in all areas of learning. These will continue into next week. We ask all our parent/carers to make sure that children are all in school every day and on time.
Reception class are enjoying the story of Goldilocks and the Three Bears, using puppets to tell the story and practising their good speaking. They are also doing one more and one less counting.
Year 1 are designing and making their own sweets and recording their own advertisements. They are also planning and writing their own Fairy Tales.
Year 2 have been designing and making their own Owl puppets.
Year 3 have made stunning pictures with animal silhouettes against sunset skies.
They are also working hard on their drama presentation for parents in a few weeks.
Year 4 have been making Antarctic animal puppets.
Year 5 have been learning about Sport Relief and sharing this with the whole school. They are leading everyone in the challenge to walk a mile to raise money for Water Aid in Africa.
Year 6 have been making and enjoying Aztec type food and continuing to create their own Aztec drum rhythms.
This week we have conducted Primary Talk interviews with pupils from all classes to monitor progress in improvement in Speaking skills. Staff are pleased to report that a significant improvement is evident since the beginning of this academic year.
Year 2 led the school with their topic assembly on Friday. We were all impressed with their great knowledge about Nocturnal creatures. Tom our Football coach presented awards to pupils from the Football squad that have performed well over the last half term.
Thank you to all our parents and children who attended the Sacramental programme meeting on Thursday at St Patrick’s church and again on Sunday morning.
Thank you to all our families who are helping the children to fill their St Joseph’s Penny Boxes. This money will be sent to CARITAS a local charity that supports needy children.
