Mayfield Preview

Date published: 27 February 2015

Mayfield coaches Matt Calland and Sam Butterworth are making their final squad preparations before the season kicks off this weekend when Mayfield take on Folly Lane in the Oldham Standard Cup semi-final on Saturday (28 February).

Mayfield are looking to welcome back some players who have been unavailable so far and who should be near full strength.

Although the coaches could still be tempted to field some fringe players, they say there will be no underestimating the quality of the Folly side.

Mayfield will be hoping they are far too strong for Folly and are able to show some of the quality which they hope will see them enjoy a successful return to the National Conference Premier Division.

Joe Quanici could be making a return after a bad ankle injury and there could also be a return for Luke Sampson who missed most of last season due to a broken arm.

There is also a younger look to the team with Dec Sheridan, Niall Bradley and Sean Mulcahy bringing down the average age of the side. However, this is balanced out with the likes of Calland and Butterworth along with elder statesman Rob Kershaw - who is now in his eighteenth season at the club.

At the time of publication, Mayfield were still trying to arrange a friendly for the NWML side.

Players will be informed if a game is arranged.

Fixture 28.02.15

Mayfield v Folly Lane, ko 2.30pm
