Rochdale Snorkelling Club Under 14s won silver at the UK Nationals.

The team included Jack Midgley, Ethan Redmond, Tiegan Alexander, Rebecca Northover, and Kal Torson, plus five slightly more experienced Batley players.

The team’s first match was against West Wickham U14, who scored first. Rochdale hit back with three goals to win 3-1.

In the next match against Xarifa U14, Rochdale won 2-1.

In the match against Pembroke, Rochdale made some good swift attacks and displayed excellent team play leading to a 4-0 win.

Against TSW, the team to beat, Rochdale lost 3-0.

During the play-offs against West Wickham and Plymouth, Rochdale exhibited some excellent tactics and good team play, and managed to win both 6-0 and 4-3 respectively.

In the final against TSW, TSW managed to score two quick breakaway goals, but Rochdale struggled to score. It didn’t help matters when the team lost one player to the ‘sin bin’ for two minutes, and ended up losing 7-1 to take the silver medal.

This is an improvement for the club, as last year they took home the bronze medal.

A representative from Rochdale Snorkelling Club said: “Well done to everyone who played.”
