The charge of the Rhinos

Date published: 23 July 2014

The Deaf Rhinos football team got through to the quarter finals of a Lancashire Football Association tournament after winning three games.

The players, who are all deaf, have been meeting every week for the last three months to train and secured funding to ensure it can continue its training and travel to take part in tournaments.

The team was delighted with the result and was cheered on by fellow tournament players, the Hopwood Dynamos, whose players have various disabilities. The Hopwood Dynamos also reached the quarter finals.

With the first tournament behind them, the teams are now getting down to training.

Both the Deaf Rhino’s and the Hopwood Dynamos are also looking for new players to join them. Anyone interested in playing with the teams should contact Hopwood Hall College for more details.
