Conditions were promising on Sunday (9 August) for another good day of racing. The forecast was for sunshine and a gentle breeze.
However, sailors recognise that the lake has its own weather systems and an east wind will always be much stronger. For safety’s sake in the present time, limitations have been forced based on wind strength. As the gusts raced across the lake, it was decided after the first race was completed that it would be the only one.
Nick Hornsby, in a Solo, was the winner with the power to cope with the wind. Daisy Fisher, in a Topper, showed that she could measure up to the conditions with Martin Brennan (Solo) taking third place.
