Cricket: Norden lose to Burnley in a low scoring game

Date published: 27 August 2019

A bad weekend for Norden started on Saturday 24 August when they were beaten by Burnley in a low scoring match at Stag Park.

The game started brightly enough for Norden as they reduced Burnley to 57-5 but the visitors recovered to total 147.

Chris Humphreys was the star with the ball in Norden’s early spell of dominance, and he finished the day with three for 27 from 13 overs.

Greg Butterworth picked up three for 40, and there were two run outs – one of them from a direct Jake Sandham throw.

Josh Tolley and Harvey Fitton opened the reply with a stand of 32, but Norden then crumpled to an all out 113.

Apart from the openers only two more got into double figures. Jake Sandham scored 46 and Steve Pimm 13.
