Rugby Union: Colne & Nelson 10 - 30 Littleborough Pink Warriors

Date published: 19 February 2019

Debut tries for Georgia Turner and Hannah Mills ensured Littleborough Pink Warriors terrific run in 2019 continued with a 30-10 win over Colne & Nelson.

Littleborough Pink Warriors Ladies returned to action with a changed side, including some players finding themselves in unfamiliar positions, at Colne and Nelson.

The visitors, undeterred and more than awake to the challenge, opened the scoring through Hannah Mills, who while scoring a great individual try, also added the conversion. The young back would go on to ensure that this would be a senior debut never to forget.

East Lancashire based Colne & Nelson bounced back as they took control of possession and field position with two tries to carry a narrow 10-7 lead.

Playing at centre, Littleborough's Sarah Jane Whittles powered through a few tacklers to score, which was then disallowed.

Flanker Summer Harris burned their defence with speed to give the half time score line of 15-10 to the Pink Warriors.

Seven changes made at half time by the visitors disrupted the flow of the game as it took time for Littleborough to settle into the pattern of the game again. There was some frustration within the performance, but the ladies eventually soon settled and took full control.

Further tries from the likes of skipper Sharon Pearson, Olivia Turner and another debutant Georgia Turner saw Littleborough hold with plenty to spare.

Littleborough Pink Warriors are next in action at local rivals Oldham next Sunday 24 February.
