Rugby Union: Ormskirk Ladies 15 - 55 Littleborough Ladies

Date published: 10 December 2018

Littleborough Pink Warrior Ladies returned to winning ways in their final game of 2018 with an impressive 55-15 away win at Ormskirk on Sunday 9 December 2018.

The visitors travelled 48 miles to Green Lane determined to put things right from last week's defeat to Burnley and spurred on to deliver a fitting tribute to former player and coach Norman Hughes.

Boy did they deliver! A hat-trick for Samantha Brazier precluded Rebecca Harrison and Megan Dickinson tries that gave Littleborough breathing space. Further tries on a cold and windy Sunday afternoon from Summer Harris and a penalty try meant that the visitors recorded a first ever double over their West Lancashire opponents.

Superbly led by skipper Olivia Turner, the Queen of turnovers, the team built on the possession gained with some impressive rugby.

The team is now benefiting with the addition of a kicking game that fly half Claire Sutcliffe executed effectively, causing the Ormskirk full back no end of problems. She also added four conversions to her two tries in a superb all round performance. While Megan Dickinson demonstrated the addition of box kicks to her repertoire of skills.

The squad depth of the group was tested with a number of players absent through injury, but the players who are relatively new to the game, gained invaluable experience and came through with a lot of credit from their performances.
