Cricket: Heywood Cricket Club teams for the weekend

Big matches keep coming along for Heywood’s first and second teams and this coming weekend (July 21 and 22) is no exceptio

The senior side on Saturday go to Woodhouses, who, like their opponents, are fighting to avoid relegation from the Greater Manchester Premier League.

Sunday sees a trip to Royton in the semi-final  of the Derek Kay First XI Cup. The winners will play Greenmount or Flowery Field in the final on 5 August.

The second team, meanwhile, host their Woodhouses counterparts at Crimble on Saturday hoping to maintain their position at the top of Division 4 East.

And the third team have a Division 2A date at Monton and Weaste on Sunday.

  • Heywood First XI (v Woodhouses, away, Saturday, 1pm): T Townsend (capt), D Pawson, R Cross, A Kerr, J Morley, R Paterson, M Grogan, M Witts, A Dawson, S Dawson, T McQuinn.
  • Heywood First XI (v Royton, away, Sunday, 1st X1 Cup semi-final, 1pm): S Burrill and D Fawcett replace R Cross and A Kerr in above team.
  • Heywood Second XI (v Woodhouses, home, Saturday, 1.30pm): S Evans (capt), R Bennett, J Kaye, K Nugent, L Clarkson, J Mills, M Hood, S Byrne, W Taylor, C Hilton, T Pagett.
  • Heywood Third XI (v Monton and Weaste, away, Sunday, 2pm): S Evans (capt), C McNally, D Fare, L Forshaw, L Clarkson, C Hilton, W Taylor, T Pagett, R Purser, S Byrne, E Clarkson.
