Cricket: Second away win for Heywood Cricket Club under 18s

Date published: 15 June 2018

Heywood Cricket Club under 18s recorded their second consecutive away victory, this time at Walshaw.

The Crimble boys made a blistering start with Michael Witts and Jacob Kaye sharing a century partnership for the first wicket.  Michael retired at 50 and Jacob was caught on the boundary for 48.

In at number three came Jack Morley, who kept the momentum going and despatched the ball to all quarters with Heywood eventually finishing on 151-1.

Walshaw have a strong batting line-up, but despite an aggressive start, Heywood contained them with accurate bowling, good fielding and catching.

Whilst Walshaw rallied in the middle order they eventually closed on 125-7.

Heywood go to Bury away next week for another tough encounter, but now seem to have adapted well to the 20-over format.
