Cricket: Heywood Cricket Club teams for the weekend

Heywood’s first and second teams hope to continue their progress in Greater Manchester League Cup competitions on Sunday.

The senior side host Egerton in the Derek Kay First XI Cup, while the buoyant Second XI travel to Stretford in the third round of their respective event.

Before that, both teams will be hoping to secure vital League points on Saturday.

The First XI travel to Denton St Lawrence with the sides separated by just a point towards the bottom end of the Premier League table.

The Second XI are still unbeaten in Division Four East and take on Ashton Ladysmith at Crimble in their next outing.

  • Heywood First XI (versus Denton St Lawrence, away, Saturday, 1pm): T Townsend (captain), A Kerr, R Cross, D Pawson, R Paterson, J Morley, S Burrill, D Latham, A Dawson, T McQuinn, T Pagett.
  • Heywood First XI (versus Egerton, home, Sunday, 1pm, second round of First XI Cup): W Hunt replaces J Morley in above team.
  • Heywood Second XI (versus Ashton Ladysmith, home, Saturday, 1.30pm): M Grogan (captain), R Bennett, C Kaye, J Mills, L Clarkson, J Keyworth, C Hilton, O Thomas, W Taylor, J Kaye, R Purser.
  • Heywood Second XI (versus Stretford, away, Sunday, 1pm, third  round of Second XI Cup): M Witts and S Evans replace O Thomas and R Purser in above team.
