Commonwealth Games medal winners invited to reception at Downing Street

Date published: 07 June 2018

Medal winners in the recent Commonwealth Games, including a woman from Whitworth, attended a reception at 10 Downing Street on Monday (4 June).

Basketball star Mollie Campbell, from Whitworth, was invited to the reception with all other home nation winners to celebrate their success earlier this year.

The 23-year-old sports design and technology student was the youngest player in the England basketball squad who brought home silver at this year’s Gold Coast Games.

Her mum, Fiona Harrisson said: "I am so proud of Mollie, what an honour this is."

Campbell, who studies at Loughborough University currently plays for Leicester Riders and the Great Britain Women's team.

Her basketball career began at the age of 12, when she followed in her brother’s footsteps and took up the sport, playing for Manchester Mystics.
