Hockey: University of Manchester Ladies 2 - 4 Rochdale Ladies

Date published: 13 March 2018

Rochdale Ladies beat University of Manchester Ladies on Sunday.

With Rochdale only having ten players, they knew they were going to have to fight from the first whistle to the final second.

Katie Burrell scored the first goal after patiently waiting on the back post for Roisin Pickering to cross the ball from the right wing.

Gemma Hodcroft found herself one on one with the keeper after MacDonald passed down the middle of the pitch to the top D. Hodcroft remained calm and smashed the ball past the keeper.

Burrell and Hodcroft added to Rochdale's total to give them a four goal lead.

Rochdale sconceded two late goals but they had already done enough to take the points.

Captain Kie Leech said: “It was a tough match with neither team having a full squad; they really gave us a run around which we made harder for ourselves. A good win though, well done all.”

Player-of-the-match: Gemma Hodcroft
